Birth at home
- Costs: € 1900,- to € 3100,-

Included are appointments during the pregnancy, on-call-service beginning 3 weeks before and up to 2 weeks after the estimated due date, birth itself and the visits after birth. Some offer services with 2 midwifes or as a team.
After Birth
Care at home after the birth in the hospital
- Costs: € 90,- to € 120,- per visit
- Refund by the insurance company: € 48,- up to 12x times
No matter, how long you are staying in the hospital, you are entitled to get care of a midwife. The midwife can come home to you within the first 5 days (after a C-section, premature birth or twins 6 days) every day. After this time there is the possibility for further 7 appointments within the first 8 weeks (with C-section, preemie or twins the first 12 weeks).
Appointments are available and most often used as home visits, but are also available as telemedical visits. Additionally, up to 5 telephone calls are partially refundable.
How does it work with the refund by the insurance company?
- You pay the private midwife.
- Then you submit the bill to your insurance company.
- You will get 80% of what a midwife with a contract would get, back (not 80% of the bill).
